Boryana Petkova


Boryana Petkova (b Sofia, Bulgaria, 1 985) is multidisciplinary artist. Shegraduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia in 2011 and from the Academy of Art and design in Valenciennes (France) in 2015.
She lives and works between Paris and Sofia.

Boryana Petkova‘s work focuses mainly on the drawing – as a thought, action or result. She combines different disciplines – video, photography, sculpture, performance, installation or sound – exploring their interaction with the drawing.

In 2015 she won the drawing prize Pierre David-Weill of the French Academy. In 2016 she was nominated for BAZA Award for Contemporary Art and in 2017 she is co laureate of Contemporary Art Biennial of Young Contemporary Creation of Mulhouse (France). In 2019 her work was mentioned by the jury of Fénéon Art Award (Paris, France) and the same year she participated at Finale exhibition, event of Gaudenz Ruf Award in Structura Gallery. In 2019 she took part in the ceramic show Formes Vivantes curated by  Jean Charles Hameau, Kimberley Harthoorn in Museum Andrien Dubouché (France). After she received the Award of Mulhouse 017 (the Biennial of Contemporary Art in Mulhouse) she had her first museum show Mutuus – duo show with Cedric Estruillo in th Museum of Fine Arts of Mulhouse (France, 2019). In 2018 she participated in the exhibition L’Arbre de Darwin in FRAC Limousin (France). With this exhibition she finished her residency CCE (céramique comme expérience) residence program, in ENSA Limoges. In 2018 she made two solo exhibitions – Written(not)said curated by Daniela Radeva in Contemporary space, Varna and H220cm curated by Irina Batkova in Plus359 gallery Sofia. In 2016 she participated in the exhibition of nominated artists for BAZA Award for Contemporary Art in Sofia city gallery and in differents collectives exhibitions like Salon de dessin in situ in gallery Linz, Paris, A3 in Gallery Juneval, Belgium and in Art de bourdure, part of 3 days in Paris, art event in Martine et Thibault de la Châtre Gallery Paris.
