Heimo Zobernig was born in Mauthen, Austria, and lives in Vienna. Zobernig studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1977 to 1980, and at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna from 1980 to 1983. After two visiting professorships in Germany, he has been teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna since 1999. In 1993 he received the “Otto Mauer Prize” and 1997 the “City of Vienna Prize”.
Solo presentations include the Austrian participation at the Venice Biennale 2015. In 1997, he participated at documenta X.
