In these collages, L.A. Raeven combined ads and images from fashion and art magazines with pencil drawings. The fascination with the distortion of the body in fashion was nourished by the experiences of Angelique Raeven during her period of employment with the French fashion house Jean Paul Gaultier, on the one hand, and Liesbeth Raeven’s hands-on training in the studios of Philip Lorca Di Corcia and Nan Goldin in New York and with Orlan in Paris, on the other.
